‘Birthday Suit’ by Jasper & Bram Stadhouders and Nico & Sanne Huijbregts as episode #6 of A Song A Day.
This episode was a special family edition, with my two cousins Jasper and Bram Stadhouders and my uncle Nico Huijbregts. We recorded it on May 7th, 2022 - a long time ago. I left it lying for years because of personal reasons (burnout, breakup, move) and the release of Mountain Child, the first album of Sanne Sanne. Now I’m finally bringing these videos into the world, and after this one, two more episodes will follow.
Because we’re all very different players and composers, this episode gave birth to a truly colorful song. I remember the day as a real search, and hearing it now, I’m surprised by the twists and turns it dares to take. It feels like we all wore our best birthday suits - putting a very naked, honest part of ourselves into the music.
